Our why

My family’s history is rooted in loss and in rebuilding. My parents fled Vietnam with nothing but the clothes they wore. No English, no money, no property. What they carried instead was agency: the ability to start over, work relentlessly and build something honest with their own hands.
In America, they did just that. Families grew. Businesses were built. Children thrived.
That same spirit is why Climb Hunt Hike was founded.
I grew tired of spending most of my time climbing, hunting and hiking under organizations whose missions didn’t strongly align with my own. I come from people who didn’t wait for permission, who learned by doing and who understood that dignity comes from quality and hard work.

Our Mission
AT CLIMB HUNT HIKE, WE BELIEVE THAT BRINGING THESE DISCIPLINES BACK TOGETHER IS NOT ONLY MORE AUTHENTIC, BUT NECESSARY. IT RECONNECTS US TO A MORE PRIMAL, LIBERATED WAY OF MOVING THROUGH THE WORLD, BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF WHAT TODAY IS CONSIDERED “NORMAL” ADVENTURE.
Climb Hunt Hike was founded by Don Nguyen after over a decade of experience in mountaineering and guiding hunts. Throughout his career, Don noticed a disconnect between the siloed worlds of climbing, hunting, and hiking. Each activity, when practiced in isolation, felt incomplete, like something essential was missing.
Over time, it became clear: these pursuits were never meant to be separate. Modern
society, politics, and commercial interests have neatly packaged and divided them. But
for our ancestors, climbing, hunting, and hiking were deeply interconnected, woven into
daily life as one unified experience.

Meet our Guides
Great guides are what make a great service. Our team is made up of capable outdoor leaders with backgrounds across climbing, hunting, Special Forces, thru-hiking, wilderness travel, and fieldcraft. Technical ability matters, but it is character, judgment, professionalism, and leadership that truly define a guide.
